Funding drops to 4.7 million Euros

Fewer children get fruit and vegetables in southwest Germany

The reason for this decrease is the reduced EU funding - from 7.5 million Euros to 4.7 million Euros, stated Friedlinde Gurr-Hirsch (CDU), Junior Minister of Rural Affairs and Consumer Safety in Stuttgart on Tuesday 18 April.

Every week, about 390,000 children will receive fruit and vegetables during this school year. In the future, only around 250,000 children will receive fruit and vegetables, at primary schools, kindergartens and day-care centers. This is about a third of all children at these schools and institutions. Secondary schools cannot participate in this program anymore.
