China consumes 73% of Vietnam's total fruit & veg exports

China consumed 73 percent of the Vietnam's exported goods in the first quarter of 2017, according to Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) on Tuesday.

In the first quarter, Vietnam's vegetable and fruit exports experienced a year-on-year increase of 29.8 percent to hit $700.6 million.

After China, the United States, Japan and South Korea were also major importers of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, with 3.54 percent, 3.01 percent and 2.99 percent of the export revenue, respectively.

Notably, despite being one of the four main bowls of fruits and vegetables in the Southeast Asian region, Thailand still sat fourth among major markets for Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, importing $14.7 million worth of the items, up 34 percent year-on-year, said the MARD.
