Hawaiians urged to wash fruit after six cases of rat lungworm
Authorities suspect the infection is caused by a new invasive species of semi-slugs which are taking over the Hawaiian island. When people come into contact with either the molluscs or any fruit or vegetables that the snails touch, they risk getting infected.
To that extent, authorities are urging all Hawaiian residents to thoroughly wash every piece of fresh fruit before consuming it.
