MacAndrews announces 4-day fresh produce service between Spain/UK
MacAndrews, a leading Iberian multimodal transport provider, announced today the launch of a new Door to Door product using a Roll-On / Roll-Off (RORO) service between Bilbao and Poole. The new service called MACPAK provides a door to door transit time of 4 days between Spain and UK which opens up more opportunities for the fresh produce exporters in Murcia, Valencia and Almeria.
The new service operates with two roro sailings a week from Bilbao to Poole departing every Monday and Thursday arriving Poole every Tuesday and Saturday respectively.
The new service provides customers a reduction in their carbon footprint between, eg Murcia and Birmingham, of 4.5 tonnes of CO2 by avoiding overland trucking through France. MacAndrews have also appointed a new dedicated RORO Business Development Manager, Matthew Kirkland.
Geoffrey Smith, CEO of MacAndrews, said: “We are pleased to announce this new product between the Port of Bilbao and the Port of Poole. Both ports’ excellent infrastructure and proximity to important markets make them the perfect choice for our business and we are very much looking forward to growing this business activity to enhance frequency as we continue to diversify, grow and increase our market presence’’
