Mexico sells more than $160 mln of ag food products at German trade fairs

Mexican producers achieved sales of over 160,149,000 dollars at two agricultural food trade fairs in Germany, stated the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA).

The federal agency said that the producers had marketed frozen guacamole, mango, strawberry, peach, guava, and lemon, among other products, in the events that were held in February in Germany.

According to a report by the Agency for Marketing Services and the Development of Agricultural Markets (Aserca), the Mexican producers that attended the Fruit Logistica fair held in Berlin, Germany, consolidated sales for the short, medium, and long term worth $113,352,000 dollars.

The producers sold avocado pulp, frozen guacamole, mango, strawberry, peach, guava, avocado, lemon, radish, watermelon, beets, blackberry, blueberry, strawberry, pineapple, asparagus, and cucumbers.

They also sold onions, sugar, grapefruit, fig, green beans, garbanzo, habanero peppers, plantain flowers, pumpkin, papaya, coffee, coriander, leek, pigweed, parsley, garlic, carrot, tomato, basil, mint, and tuna, among other products.

Germany is one of the most important European markets for fruits and vegetables, as its per capita consumption of these products stands at nearly 160.4 kilograms, 88.7 kilos of which correspond to fruits and 71.7 kilos to vegetables.

Moreover, the Mexican agribusinesses that attended the Biofach expo, the most important fair of Europe's organic sector, which is held in Nuremberg, Germany, stated that they had achieved revenues of 46,797,000 dollars in the short, medium, and long term.

The Mexican agricultural businesses that attended the Biofach fair exhibited and marketed different products, such as inulin, agave syrup, blue agave fructans, mango, aloe vera, stevia, beans, honey, avocado, cocoa beverages, garbanzo, nopal and orange juice, mezcal, grapefruit, lemon, vanilla extract and vanilla powder, pepper, cucumber, and tomato, among others.

In addition, the producers said that they had made 506 new trade links with buyers and distributors in the region and in Eastern Europe.
