Uzbekistan: Horticultural exports to Kazakhstan to exceed 500,000 tonnes

In 2017, Uzbekistan intends to increase their export of fruit and vegetable products to Kazakhstan to 560,000 tonnes, worth about 410 million US dollars, as reported to Gazeta.uz by the press service of the holding company "Uzbekzokovaktovholding".

Last year, Kazakhstan received 482.6 thousand tonnes of Uzbeki fresh and dried fruit and vegetable products, including melons, grapes and beans, worth over $ 307 million; 89.6 thousand tonnes (or 23%) more than in 2015.

In January-February of the current year, the export of fresh and dried fruit and vegetables to the neighbouring country has amounted to more than 22 thousand tonnes worth over 15.9 million dollars. Meanwhile, there have also been shipments of juice, jam, soft drinks and canned goods worth 3.35 million dollars.

At the National Industrial Exhibition of Uzbekistan, held during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan, more than 300 products were showcased, including fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, confectionery, meat and dairy products and beverages produced by companies that are members of Uzbekzokovakhold Holding.

The trade company "Uzagroexport", specialising in foreign trade, created three trading houses in Kazakhstan: "Uzagroexport-Kazakhstan", "A-Fruitts" (Shymkent) and "Central Asian TD" (Astana). So far, 10 contracts have been signed with them for the supply of fruit and vegetable products worth more than $ 40 million.
