Expansion of 200 hectares for Jaguacy Brazil to meet increasing demand

First arrival of Brazilian Hass avocados next week

On Friday 31 March, Jaguacy Holland will receive their first containers of Hass avocados from Brazil for the 2017 season. The first container will be expected at and received by Cool Control in Maasdijk, the Netherlands, and from there it will be shipped to various destinations. “From week 13 until week 23 we will receive about 25 containers in Europe per week. Then we will switch to a smaller volume until week 35. It is expected that that we will get to about 250 containers for Europe,” says Ron Jongejan.

“This season, we have more volume in small sizes 22-24-26-28-30-32. The sizes we ship are 12-14-16-18-20-22-24 in 4 kilograms, and 24-26-30-32 in 10 kilograms. Demand is very good this period, and will continue to stay good for now. We expect to receive a good price for the avocados this year as well,” Ron says. “With a fat content of 23 and more, the avocados ripen well and taste very good. We can supply everything to our customers, from 800-gramme to 1-kilogram nets to punnets per two or four, and ready-to-eat avocados.”

Jaguacy Brazil will plant about 200 hectares of additional avocados in the coming years, in order to meet increasing demand. “We now have packing lines in Brazil that can handle 40 containers per week, and we invest a lot in the quality of the products to meet every demand of the customers. Also in the field of organic avocados, which will arrive in Europe next year,” Ron concludes.

Jaguacy Brazil has certificates such as Grasp, GlobalGAP, BRC, BSCI and Rainforest. Residue analyses are done by Groen Agro Control.
