Now available from Landgard:

Pomegranates and sweet potatoes from South Africa and Israel

Strong partners Landgard and EDOM open the door to the German market for South African and Israeli products

While the first sweet potatoes of EDOM, a new Landgard member in Israel, are shipped to Germany, the freshly harvested pomegranates have already found their way to cooperation members in Germany. In February the Israeli producers’ cooperative EDOM, consisting of 50 farms, and in the presence of the ambassador of the State Israel, Yakov Hadas-Handelsman, signed the official membership papers at the Landgard stand at the Fruit Logistica Fair in Berlin. And now the first products are available for trade from Landgard.

“As a modern trade cooperation and thanks to our international producers base we offer our customers fruit and vegetable solutions the whole year round. And especially for new and exotic international products, well-balanced QM and QS processes are of paramount importance," stated the Landgard Chairman Armin Rehberg. “With the members from Israel we gained a strong partner and together we make a wide range of important products available for trade from Israel and South Africa, a range in high demand from our customers. Nevertheless, our core business will continue to be the marketing of the products of our members in Germany."

The new international members are cultivating 550 hectares, not only in Israel but also in South Africa. In South Africa the pomegranate varieties "Aco", "Hershkovitz", "Shir" and late variety "Wonderful" and sweet potatoes are cultivated on 120 hectares from February to June. Furthermore the EDOM GGroup offers with EDOM UK, EDOM Roots and EDOM Fruits a wide range, varying from cucumbers, melons, sweet peppers, potatoes, carrots, radishes, apricots, avocados, clementines, dates, figs, grapefruits, kumquats, mangoes to passion fruit and plums. EDOM is one of the largest producer organizations in Israel and a new and international partner of Landgard since February 2017.
