Shipment by Talsa and Hortifrut

Peruvian blueberries warmly welcomed in China

This morning, a festive ceremony was organised at the Guangzhou import market in Southern China to celebrate the arrival of one of the first containers of Peruvian blueberries. The shipment was initiated by a joint venture between Talsa and Hortifrut, the latter being an owner, partner and grower of Naturipe. The load has been imported by SVA Fruit, a joint venture between Hortifrut and San Clemente. The fruit was delivered straight to the import market in Guangzhou.

The shipment includes more than 3,500 boxes of Naturipe branded Rocio variety blueberries; a variety owned by Naturipe partners.

In order to celebrate this historic achievement, Mr. David Gamara (Consul General of the Consulate General of Peru in Guangzhou), Mr. Ye Canjiang, Mr. Vladimir Kocerha (Peruvian Trade Commissioner), Felipe Claro (General Manager of SVA Fruit), Mr. Huang (The owner of Faikee Fruit Company), and a number of people from other companies attended the opening ceremony.

The ceremony attracted a large number of visitors. In November 2016, the first batch of airlifted blueberries was send to China. The first batch of commercial air blueberries finally arrived in Shanghai on February the 12th.

July is the traditional start of the Peruvian blueberry harvest season, and exporters are excited about the coming season. China might become one of Peru's most important export markets for the soft fruit.
