Kazakhstan/Uzbekistan agree on railway transportation for fruit & veg

On February 22 in Tashkent, within the framework of the upcoming 16th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, the President of Kazakhstan’s national railways company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) Kanat Alpysbayev, held talks with the heads of Uzbekistan’s railways company, O’zbekiston Temir Yo’llari, to discuss further development of cooperation in the railway transport sector, the press service of KTZ said.

During the meeting the sides reached an agreement on granting transit transportation of Uzbek fruit and vegetables and other agricultural products through the territory of Kazakhstan.

Last year saw a growth of cargo transportation by railway transport between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, with the volume of traffic amounting to 19 million tons.
