Australian cauliflower and asparagus expensive after heavy rains
Cauliflower and asparagus are the most expensive but some Asian vegetable alternatives are on the cheap including, beetroot, capsicum, carrot, celery, silverbeet, onions and pumpkin.
Shoppers in Queensland can also expect to pay more for quality beans, brussels sprouts, cabbage, eggplant, fennel, leeks, parsnips, snow peas, squash, sweet corn, zucchini, mushrooms, potatoes and sweet potatoes.
Those looking to buy their fruit for a bargain should look at limes, select grapes, Italian grown kiwifruit, rockmelon, watermelon, honeydew, pineapples, peaches, nectarines, plums and lychees.
On the expensive side of fruit, shoppers will find apples, pears and Tasmanian grown cherries. Some alternatives are dragon fruit, carambola (star fruit) and custard apples which are firmly priced but less so.
