China: Prickly pears confiscated at Nanjing Airport

When an employee of the Chinese Border Control Agency of Nanjing Airport, in Jiangsu province, made an inspection on a flight coming from Hongkong, she found one of the passengers was carrying prickly pears. This fruit came from South Africa and was brought for the passenger's relatives who had never seen one before. Two boxes, weighing together 0.92 kg, were found in the suitcase. There have only ever been a handfull of cases where pricky pears were confiscated on the spot at Nanjing Lukou International airport, which makes this one quite a rarity.
