Nijssen presents three-tiered ripening room

Nijssen recently realised three-tiered ripening rooms for avocados on the authority of Mission Produce. It is one of the solutions Nijssen will bring to attention during the Fruit Logistica. Nijssen will present various solutions from industrial cooling and climate techniques in Berlin.

Three-tiered ripening rooms
The three-tiered ripening rooms will result in a considerable ripening capacity per square metre. With their years of experience in realising ripening rooms, Nijssen will also guarantee constant conditions in the entire space with this additional height, so that ripening uniformity is maintained.

Renewed Filacell cooling system
The Filacell cooling system developed by Nijssen has been renewed. By further optimising heat transfer and humidification, the efficiency of Filacell has further increased. The system is based on the principle of wet flow cooling at 99 per cent RV. Because of this, it guarantees quick, efficient and even re-cooling with minimal moisture loss. Filacell is also used for long-term storing.

Optionally, the Filacell can be equipped with EC fans, so that the amount of air during the first cooling and the storing process can be adjusted continuously. The EC fans combined with the advanced computer operating system ensure a very high return during the initial cooling and storing period of the products. Because of this, energy costs decrease significantly.

Additional control module for saving energy
New energy saving modules for Nijssen Control Systems focus on further reducing the energy consumption of Nijssen installations, which invariably prove to perform extremely energy-efficiently in external comparisons. Queue management optimises effort of the compressor capacity. This saving is in addition to the 15 per cent of energy savings realised by the Nijssen Power Saving System through continuous optimisation of operating conditions, such as suction and discharge pressures. For those wishing to further reduce energy consumption, there is a special module for energy management that can support that.

Control module for DCA storage
The innovative control module for (Dynamic) Controlled Atmosphere storage is pre-eminently suitable for large-scale storage facilities. Recipes can be defined unlimitedly in the recipe module, for various phases of storage. Based on decisive rules that are personally defined, the control of conditions can be adjusted automatically, if desired.

Growth carts with LED lighting
For flexible application in climate-controlled rooms and test set-ups for vertical farming, Nijssen developed special, Danish carts, complete with shelves that can be adjusted in height, ebb-and-flow trays and the latest dim-able energy efficient RAZRx growing LED lighting from Fluence Bioengineering under specially developed waterproof, protective covers. The widely applicable RAZRx armatures can be replaced by any other brand and type of lighting, if so desired.

The demonstration model at the Fruit Logistica has also been equipped with complete control of MyGrowthRoom, the successful, multifunctional mobile walk-in climate-controlled room for nursery trials and production. In this manner, visitors can see the wide functionality and intuitive visualisation for themselves.
