Vientosur opens second location in Hamburg

"Andres Ribas: "Steady growth thanks to partners"

Vientosur BV. started its fifth commercial season with a steady growth, a reinforced commercial team, improved presence and recognition from the market.

“It has truly become an avant-garde commercial formula, thanks to clear joint ventures with growers & exporters from the Southern Hemisphere, logistic efficiency & fruit quality assurance through different European ports, tailor-made programs developed for each European channel and segment, and due the attainment to the actual highest commercial and distribution standards”, according to Vientosur’s Managing Director, Mr. Andres Ribas van Oosterom.



Thanks to the incorporation in 2016 of Mrs. Sonia Mollet and Mr. Juergen Mueller, both bringing with them a wealth of commercial experience in the global fresh produce business, the company has experienced rapid growth and it is currently expanding its product basket and diversifying its commercial segmentation focus. A highly committed and professional financial, logistic and food-safety staff, also supports the growing operations.

“Vientosur’s headquarter office is based in Rotterdam city-port, from where we coordinate our global sourcing strategy and distributions through Europe. Most recently, we opened an office in Hamburg-Germany, as second strategical location to better develop and service our growing client base in the largest market in Europe and surrounding countries.”



“Besides being “IFS Broker “certified, we have deep attention to formalities and specific requirements as low residue level exigencies, social responsibility certifications at origin (Siza, Sedex, Grasp, etc.)”, shares Andres.

Our main partner in the formula, Fruitone (Pty) Ltd , is one of the biggest single growers of citrus from South Africa, in juice oranges, grapefruit and lemons, is picking this year its first harvest of Tango mandarins of it new extensive plantations. Tango is definitely, a great commercial mandarin variety and generates “brand” new opportunities for the group and our European distribution network.



Our production focus, expertise and passion towards citrus products from South Africa, Argentina, Uruguay and Peru has given us throughout the years a strong foundation, which has helped us the last years to develop new categories in our basket, such as industrial citrus, pomegranates, grapes, avocados and some others from the southern hemisphere. “Our philosophy is to add value to the associated growers as they form the foundation of our commercial strategy”.

One of the biggest improvements of Vientosur in 2016 has been the migration to “Profix”, a new generation software, which gives us the right tools to manage and develop bigger volumes of fruit in shorter periods of time on a cost-efficient way, with clarity, great information and analysis possibilities.



It also started a close cooperation with the company Farm2Market in Peru that develops export programs direct from the growers and coordinates packaging, logistics, certification, etc. This export platform is developing new commercial channels as a procurement agency for different customers in different continents. Vientosur has recently signed a joint venture to distribute its products in Europe, as a way of being closer to the fields from that region.
The team believes in creating the right commercial mix between product and service, accentuating the correct commercial relations and ways of doing business, developing solid commercial programs on behalf of the growers, managing logistics efficiently, implementing best-practice branding & packaging strategies and delivering cost efficient quality products.
