Rwandan youths encouraged to embrace modern Agriculture

Young Rwandans are being encouraged to modernize farming in the country and to embrace modern farming methods to improve production and expand their enterprises.

Entrepreneurs under the Rwanda Youth Agribusiness Forum were challenged to adopt technology to market their produce, as ICT tools can help them reach more people and a wider market.

The chairperson of the Rwanda Youth Agribusiness Forum said, "it is important for young people involved in the agriculture sector to employ new methods of operation which are competitive and relevant to the market."

The group has 1,260 members and acts as a youth platform to create a critical mass for change in Rwanda’s continuing efforts to transform the agriculture sector

Umurengezi said youth should become more innovative to exploit these opportunities and start up small businesses that will improve their income and standards of living.
