Uruguay: Tax credits for blueberry producers

The government will support blueberry producers through a 9% tax credit for exports within the period between July 1, 2016 and June 30 this year, and a 4.5% tax credit for exports conducted between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018. The benefit is intended for the payment of taxes to the Social Security Bank or the General Taxation Office (DGI).

The tax credit will be applied on the sale price of the agricultural producer, as provided by the decree signed on Tuesday 10 by President Tabare Vazquez and by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Danilo Astori, the website of the Presidency stated.

The 9% tax credit for exports made in between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017, corresponds to the 2016 harvest.

The 4.5% tax credit for exports between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018, corresponds to the 2017 harvest.

The decree specifies that taxpayers may charge the aforementioned credit to pay their tax obligations or seek its reimbursement through credit certificates, which may be endorsed to suppliers of goods exported, provided that they are blueberry producers.
