Asian fruit market filled with challenges

"We import fruits from Southeast Asia and Europe and sell in China. Compared to domestic fruit, imported fruit has a more obvious market advantage, which is mainly due to its good quality," said Mr.Lee from the XiaMen ZuoDa import and export Co.Ltd.

"Imported fruits are sold to the wholesale markets of different cities including Fujian, Xiamen, Guangzhou and Shanghai through the Xiamen, Shenzhen and Shanghai ports. Currently, from the Southeast Asia market, we import durian, dragon fruit, wax applesand jack fruit, mainly from Vietnam, Burma, Thailand and Malaysia. From the European market, we import citrus from Spain. In general, the arrival of Spanish citrus is from March to May. Besides, both the appearance and the quality of the Spanish citrus are excellent."

"Certainly, as in all fruit markets, we face a variety of challenges in the import market. Due to the logistical convenience of Southeast Asia to China, the market competition is also increasing, so we do our best to make our produce fresh and are meticulous in order to win a place in the market. Regarding European exports, we aim at the gap that differs from China's fruit production season. When necessary, we will consider adjusting the import market structure, turning to the Middle East, South America and other countries."
