Armenia sees 17% increase in fruit prices

Armenia saw a 3.1% price increase for food products back in December 2016 and two of the main factors was the 27% price increase of vegetables and potatoes according to according to the data released by Armenia’s National Statistical Service. A 0.1-27.7% increase has been registered in 6 out of 13 food products under study.

A 1% fall for vegetable and potato prices was recorded in December 2016 to compare with the same period of 2015 and a 27.7% increase in the prices of the mentioned food product has been observed comparing with November 2016. December 2016 saw increases in the prices of such products as mushroom, carrot, beet, radish, onion, cabbage, cucumber, tomato, mixed greens, green bean, green pepper and eggplant. In the same period cauliflower prices fell by 18.2% and garlic prices by 1.9%.

NSS also noted a 17% increase for fruit prices in December 2016 to compare with the same period of 2015 and 2.8% rise for fruit prices was seen to compare with the prices of November 2016. To note orange price decreased by 13.4% and the price of mandarin by 8.2% in the same period. 4.9% fall was recorded for banana price and the lemon price did not change in the mentioned period.
