International agreement on the Jintao organic yellow kiwi

In the era of globalization, a distance of over 11,000 kilometers is no longer an obstacle for companies operating in two different hemispheres to undertake a strategic and effective cooperation. Two leading companies in the kiwi sector, the Consorzio Kiwigold from Cesena (www.kiwigold.it) and Patagonian Fruits (www.patagonianfruits.com) from General Roca, Argentina, have signed an important agreement for the production of the Jintao yellow-fleshed organic kiwi variety in Argentina.

This product has had great success with consumers who appreciate this new cultivar and are interested in organic productions. Thanks to its vast unpolluted areas, Argentina has the most favorable conditions to grow organic fruits and vegetables.

Patagonian Fruits, which is already a leader in the production of organic apples and pears in the valleys of Rio Negro and Neuquén, has individualized the optimal conditions to grow the Hayward and Jintao kiwi varieties, which have a green and yellow pulp, respectively, in the province of Buenos Aires (Balcarce and Sierra de los Padres).

As a result, the agreement with the Consorzio Kiwigold has very solid foundations and provides for the off-season production of organic yellow kiwi in the southern hemisphere.

In the first stage, 40 hectares, 15 of which have already been planted, will be planted and should provide the first productions in April 2018. By 2018, the planted area will increase to 100 hectares.

Jingold ™ will have the exclusive rights to market the product.

According to Hugo Osvaldo Sanches, the president of Patagonian Fruits, "the goal of this agreement is to continue investing in the kiwi sector, especially in areas where fruits have excellent characteristics. In fact, our region is free of parasites, which allows us to produce our products with few interventions and to know that we'll have a promising future. That's why we hope to include the Kiwi Rosso Jingold to our production soon."

"The production of organic kiwi is limited, especially in the southern hemisphere," stated Alessandro Fornari, director of Jingold. "The cooperation agreement for the production of Jingold organic kiwi in Argentina will allow us to offer the market a new product that has generated great expectations among customers, especially in the US."

Cristina Fabbroni, technical manager of Consorzio Kiwigold, said that "the Hayward plantations that are already in production, prove that the area, which has optimal rich lands that were used for livestock, and natural basins available for irrigation, (something that is fundamental for achieving high quality fruits), has a high potential. Moreover, the company used advanced technologies to plant the first hectares, and it is using automatic irrigation and fertilization control systems, as well as meshes to protect the fruit against hail, to achieve the best quality possible."
