Rising dollar lowering Turkish export value
While an overall increase of 11% in quantity was observed, the value of exports decreased by 10%. By group of products, this is the same trend: citrus fruit: + 2% in quantity, - 11% in value; Fruits: + 18% in quantity, - 15% in value. But it is especially for vegetables that the difference is striking: + 45% in quantity, - 1% in value.
Pomegranate was the most exported fruit (60% of total fruit exports). Belarus is the largest importer of Turkish fruit (in terms of value), followed by Iraq and Germany.
In the case of vegetables, tomatoes rank first with 39 per cent of total exports, followed by peppers and cucumbers (15 per cent of total exports). It is also Belarus which has exported 19% of all Turkish vegetables, followed by Romania (14%) and Germany.
Citrus fruits, which account for 64% of total exports of Turkish fruit and vegetables, were mainly exported to Russia. Tangerine accounts for more than half of citrus exports, followed by orange and then lemon.
