Trump may pick ex Georgia governor for agricultural head

News is still abounding over Trumps picks for the various positions in Washington. This time his team are pointing their fingers at former Georgia Governor, Sonny Perdue, as the head U.S. Department of Agriculture. They stated that Perdue was their first choice candidate to fill the position.

This may not come as much of a surprise to some, considering Perdue joined Trump on the campaign trail as his agricultural advisor. No further details were given about the choice however or on why Perdue is considered the front-runner.

Since the announcement Trump has been meeting with other possible candidates for the position including Elsa Murano, undersecretary of agriculture for food safety under President George W. Bush and Chuck Conner, head of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives. Whoever is chosen to fill the position still has to gain Senate approval however.
