Morocco expects record citrus production this season

According to the Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, citrus production volume in Morocco for the 2016-2017 season should increase by 16% compared to last season, reaching 2.36 million tons.

This increase is thanks to a lot of autumn rain which allowed producers to increase their production acreage. The 2015-2016 season, on the other hand, had many dry episodes leading to a decrease in yield.

In correlation with their agricultural development strategy, Plan Maroc Vert, Morocco aims for citrus production to reach 2.9 million tons by 2018.
