"Claas van Os, Levarht: "Turnover increases in restricted shelf space"

New melon packaging attracts attention

Melon consumption traditionally falls in the winter months. To tackle this drop in sales, Levarht has introduced a new packaging format for mini-Galia, Cantaloupe and watermelons, which has become a success. "At a Scandinavian supermarket, we managed to achieve a substantial increase in sales," explains commercial manager, Claas van Os.

Levarht uses this packaging for melons from Brazil, Honduras and Costa Rica. "The best thing about these mini-melons is that they don’t need a lot of shelf space, but they do attract the necessary attention," affirms Claas. "The first tests have gone really well and next year we will be moving forward in this direction."
