Imported fruit volume and prices increase

Chinese consumers love imported Class I fruits

"As one of the world's largest professional fruit importers in China, we import premium quality fruits from different countries around the world, including: durian, mangosteen, jackfruit and longan from Thailand; dragon fruit, longan and litchi from Vietnam; apples, cherries, kiwifruit and avocado from the United States and Chile; citrus from Australian and South Africa, and apples & kiwifruits from New Zealand. After years of hard work and constant innovation, our import business has reached a considerable size, and the annual import volume reaches thousands of containers (40FT), among which, imports from Southeast Asian countries account for about 60%. " Said Mr. Song Yiling, the company's manager in charge of fruit export from Africa and Europe.

Increased volume and price of imported fruits

"As people's living standards improve, so does their health and safety awareness. Regarding the imported fruits market, its volume keeps increasing annually, and prices have increased to some extent compared to last year. Many reasons contribute to this phenomenon. For example, in South Africa, the long lasting dry weather led to a decrease of citrus volume; pests and diseases caused some fruit peels to become spotted. This undoubtedly pushed the price increase of A-level fruit."

Reduce procurement costs
"In order to guarantee the quality of the fruit from the source, we have set up our own factories in Vietnam and Thailand. Moreover, our company will send different teams to carry out the procurements process worldwide. In order to reduce costs within intermediate levels, we are now actively looking for trading companies worldwide who own their own farms for future cooperation. All the imported fruits will be sold under the brand of Mr. Chen, and they are sold, through Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen harbours, to large and medium sized suppliers across China, such as Wal-Mart, Dennis, Carrefour, Century Mart, Wing Fai etc. Around 80% of the sales volume goes to Henan province and its surrounding areas.“
