Fruit and vegetable production from a new angle

"We are not only the supply chain manager but also the producer. Fromour global offices in Guatemala and South Africa we are close to the fields and our organic lime production in Mexico, for the North American market, pursues a sustainable and fair approach," said Andreas Schindler from DonLimón.

The German company Don Limón, based in Hamburg, has been approaching fruit andvegetable production from a new angle. "Small holder lime farmers in theregion of Veracruz, Mexico are enabled, through Don Limón's support, guidance andeducational training, to grow and harvest high quality produce that is wellreceived on international markets." Don Limón is closely monitoring thewhole process from seeding to packing. "We are the supply chain manager and can work from all angles to monitor the supply chain closely and to interveneand act whenever necessary."

"Moreover, we are creating a social, economic and environmental impact inthe whole region, without compromising our eco system, through sustainable andGood Agricultural Practices. Don Limón creates employment and sufficient food to contribute to the national consumption and the internationalexport."

"Governments and multi-lateral organizations have shown great interest inour approach and in our projects." Don Limón receives financial supportand funds to expand production and product variety. "This proves howefficient and meaningful our work is. We are managing more than oneproject."

One of Don Limón's focus products is the sweet potato. It is nutritious andhealthy, can be cultivated all year around and most of its diseases can be dealtwith through biological pest control. "The produce contributes to foodsecurity and a healthy diet for our growing world population."
