Expo Agrofuturo - Colombia

"Sector's most relevant and specialized fair for Colombia"

The Expo Agrofuturo fair was held between September 6 and 9, 2016, in the Plaza Mayor Convention Center in Medellin, Colombia. This was the tenth edition of the fair and its popularity has increased progressively, as this year there were a total of 370 exhibiting companies and 18,100 people from 27 countries visited the fair. These numbers are proof that there has been a significant diversification of products, technology and knowledge, both for the attendees and the exhibitors.

"There were 290 Colombian and 80 international companies from 17 different countries. This year, Israel was our guest of honor with 10 producing companies that offered highly innovative services for the horticultural and agricultural sectors. 54% of the visitors were traders; 32% of them were producers, and 14% were investors," said Andrea Osorio, representative of Agrofuturo.

The division of the pavilions was called, Productive Ecosystems, as the idea was to integrate and connect all the actors of the supply, marketing, and financing chains. In addition, the attendees had the opportunity to interact in the Innovation, Opportunities, and Entrepreneurship areas, where exhibitors presented their projects and innovative ideas for the sector.

The goal was to create opportunities for commercial and technological development, where the attendees could make alliances that were beneficial to the parties involved. Agrofuturo became a business platform that functioned as an environment where entrepreneurs from the horticultural, agricultural, and agricultural-industrial sectors could meet with potential strategic partners.

There were also academic spaces, and entrepreneurs and investors had the opportunity to attend the 8th International Agricultural Congress, the 7th International Livestock Forum, and the different Agro Talks, which led to an exchange of knowledge and tools by the speakers and attendees.

"This version has been the most relevant and specialised fair for the agricultural and agricultural industry sector in Colombia. The results, and the positive balance we've had, have allowed us to achieve a high recognition in Latin America. The concept we are trying to implement in our culture is the New Agro, where all parties have an equal importance. The fair is helping us build the road to achieve this," Osorio said.
