"Chile: "Prevention is better than cure, also in agriculture"

The climate changes which have been affecting the harvest fields in recent years have made it a necessity to use technology for climate protection. Francisco del Santé, of the Chilean company Del Santek, tells us about the relevance of using such systems. "Today, all producers want to protect their fields against the adversities caused by these weather phenomena. These covers are the result of painstaking development work to achieve the desired goal, which is the protection of the fields against adverse weather conditions, such as frost, rain, extreme radiation, wind, hail, etc."

Earlier this year, many Chilean producers suffered crop losses as a result of the constant rains, which underscored the need to take preventive measures against these natural phenomena, which in many cases are unpredictable. "The crops run by producers working with our technologies did not suffer damages, so now even more growers have been convinced to adopt them, perceiving their use as a necessity for their business and a good investment. We could say that climate changes are driving sales, but also the need for the continued implementation and improvement of the systems," affirms del Santé.

"Many producers are not aware of the possibilities, so the key is to deliver a comprehensive service where a single firm can deliver the entire project, from design through installation, guaranteeing satisfactory results. For this reason, we consider it essential to adapt to the needs of our customers, although reducing prices is not an option. This would mean lowering the quality of the materials and compromising the stability of the structures, making them not effective enough, and that is not part of our policy. We support our customers and manage the funding, if necessary, offering the possibility of having access to this technology that has become so necessary," states the spokesperson.
