New York’s onions will be “fair”, challenged by weather
Local harvest from Orange County, New York will be taking place towards the beginning of September, supply, quality and price should be steady, according to Gurda. Dry weather made it challenging on all crops especially the greens (kale, black kale, collards, lettuces, scallions, cilantro, arugula and spinach) mixed with two recent weeks of rain. “I think it was a little too late on some crops. The rain the last couple of weeks has been good (for the onions).”
