Pakistan's mangoes a hit in Italy

From August 9-10, 2016, the first Pakistan Mango Shows, arranged by the Embassy of Pakistan in Rome, in collaboration with Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company (PHDEC) took place at various locations in Italy. Visitors sampled mangoes from Pakistan as part of the event and the Italian consumers are said to have appreciated the fruits.

A statement issued Thursday 11 August said the first segment for the general public was held on August 9 in Porta di Roma, one of the biggest commercial centres of Rome. Pakistani mangoes (white chaunsa) were tasted by the general public in the upmarket shopping mall.

This event was organised in collaboration with Auchan, one of the main grocery stores, and the management of Porta di Roma.

The display area of the shopping malls was decorated with publicity and promotion material related to mangoes from Pakistan, especially prepared by the Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company.

Newsletters and brochures on Pakistani mangoes were also distributed among the visitors during the event.

The event was attended by over a thousand people.

The mangoes were sampled by important wholesalers/retailers and agro food operators present like M/s Fruttital, M/S ABS SPA, M/S OrtoPiazzolla, M/S La Romanesca.

They all appreciated the taste of the Pakistani mangoes and showed interest in their import to Italy.

The mango boxes and bags designed and prepared by Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company was also appreciated by the Italian consumers.
