Marcel Adegeest, TVA Growers (Van Nature member):
“The new Multi-packaging machine is mostly very flexible”
Marcel Adegeest of TVA Growers has had a Multi-packaging machine in operation since the end of April. The machine is set up in such a way that four colours of tomatoes are packaged. The tomatoes are distributed based on weight percentage.

Each colour has its own section in the weigher. Computers calculate the best proportions of the four types of tomatoes to pack.
Leo van der Ven, Koppert Machines: “We are now looking at the display, and you can see not much product is given away. With this technology, it is no longer necessary. Knowing that the tomatoes weigh approximately 12 grammes, the machines is doing very well.”
The Multi-packaging machine’s production capacity is at 50 packings per minute.
The machine is now doing punnets of 250 grammes for Marcel Adegeest.
Due to the changeability of packing trends, Koppert Machines made a flexible packaging machine on the authority of growers’ association Van Nature, which made the investment. The machine can be set up for other packagings as well. Maximum sizes for packagings is 21x18 cm. Arie Koppert: “It would be a shame if we could not make the machine profitable, because you are limited by a machine’s lack of flexibility.” Marcel Adegeest has only changed the settings of the machine once so far, to try a different packaging. For him, as a new user of this machine, it was a piece of cake. “It only took about ten minutes.”
The final result.
