Produce World raises over £7000 for local hospice

Produce World has raised more than £7000 for Thorpe Hall, the Peterborough-based Sue Ryder hospice, which serves the East of England. Thorpe Hall was selected as the company’s charity of the year for 2015/16 and has benefited not only from the donations from Produce World, but also from time donated by members of staff and their families to help to convert a piece of derelict land back into a Kitchen Garden.

Donations came from fundraising events including cake sales and cycle rides, activities at Christmas, money in lieu of speaking fees, and money in lieu of presents at a 50th birthday party.

Rachel Ilgunas, CSR & Agronomy Administrator, said: “Thorpe Hall do fantastic work throughout the East of England in supporting patients and families during their last days. We have been proud to support them during the past year. It is particularly gratifying to see the Kitchen Garden being put to good use. They are now growing vegetables and keeping chickens, but more importantly it provides a haven for patients, relatives and workers at Thorpe Hall.”

Nilesh Patel from Thorpe Hall said: “We are very grateful for the support Produce World has given us which has enabled us to not only develop our Kitchen Garden, but also provide hundreds of hours of care for our patients and their families. Our links with businesses in the region are vital to the care we provide and will allow us to care for many more in the future.”

Thorpe’ Hall Kitchen Garden is now being used thanks to Produce World
