China: Fruit import from Taiwan up by 30%

In the first half of this year, the import from Taiwan to Xiamen exceeded 30.000 ton, a value of 50 million USD. This is about 65% of the total export of fruit from Taiwan, and 73% of the fruit mainland China imports from Taiwan. 

For 8 years now, Xiamen is the biggest destination port for Taiwan fruit import. According to the customs inspection department, the increase in the first half of 2016 in import volume and product value is both 30%. So Xiamen remains the most important distribution center for fruit from Taiwan. 

Imported the most from Taiwan is pineapple. 23.400 ton was imported this year, which means an increase of 37% compared to last year. Pineapple accounts for 75% of the total import from Taiwan to Xiamen. Xiamen imports fruit from Taiwan since 2005. Import at that time was 200 ton. Within 11 years, the import quantity has grown exponentially.
