Peru: Manuelita Group leading supplier of table grapes to Walmart

Manuelita Group became one of the top ten exporters of seedless table grapes from Peru, through its company Manuelita Fruits and Vegetables.

This business line is part of the Group's diversification strategy that focuses on agribusiness. The organization has more than 150 years of tradition.

Manuelita Fruits and Vegetables is located in Ica, southern Peru; an important area for producers in the northern hemisphere because of its privileged weather conditions.

During the 2015/2016 campaign, the company achieved sales of more than $13 million dollars and they expect to achieve sales for $20 million dollars in 2018.

Harold Eder, president of Manuelita, stated: "We joined the agricultural export business in Peru in 2007 and the table grapes business in 2009 to export fresh, healthy, and ready to eat products to the United States, Europe, and Asia. Currently, we export to 14 countries, including the Netherlands, UK, Canada, Germany, China, South Korea, and other countries in Southeast Asia. The US is our main export destination."

Walmart
Manuelita is one of the leading suppliers of table grapes from Peru to Walmart in the United States and they also sell them to other supermarkets in the United States, such as Sam's Club and Costco, as well as to Lowlabs in Canada, and Tesco and Waitrose in the UK, among others.

They also ship their grapes under their own brand to the Chinese market.

"Our products are designed for demanding consumers who, not only seek to improve their healthy consumer habits and are interested in fresh fruits and vegetables, but also show a preference for food produced with socially and environmentally sustainable practices, which has always been the focus of Manuelita," Eder said.

Manuelita will continue expanding their growing areas this year in Peru, planting new varieties of seedless table grape, expanding their asparagus crops, and tapping into the citrus segment with seedless mandarins for the export markets.
