aid information services will be the core of the German Federal Center for Nutrition

Nutrition information combined nationally

The discussions and frequent reports about food show the importance of information about nutrition. That is why the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) wants to combine all information, communication and knowledge about nutrition. Therefore a new Federal Center for Nutrition will be created.

It is clear that aid information services (aid) will be the essential core of the new Center for Nutrition. Together with other services that are currently located at the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE). The plan is to organize the "Federal Center for Nutrition" in the BLE in such a way that it is equipped to handle all questions relating to food and initiate food communication suitable for all groups and ages.

"I welcome this structural change, which will combine all the existing nutritional diversity in one center," states Dr. Margareta Büning-Fesel, director of aid and the future director of the Federal Center for Nutrition. “This an unique opportunity to centralize the nutrition communication in Germany and speak with one voice."

The organizational structure of the center will be created in close organization with all partners. The aim of the joint effort is to resolve all issues and questions and to provide security for all concerned.

With its information for farmers and communication about animals and plants, aid has received recognition and popularity throughout the agricultural sector since 1950. An entire generation of farmers can’t ignore aid’s concise and practical books. Providing these resources will remain part of the center’s tasks.
