China: Imported onion volume doubled during first quarter

According to the data from Commercial Industrial Research Institute, China imported a total of 29,045 tons of onion (including both fresh and cold storage ones) during the first quarter of 2016, a year-on year increase of 175.2%. This imported volume is worth US $ 9,071, an increase of 116.4%.

As a comparison, China exported around 90,550 tons onion (including both fresh and cold storage ones) during this first quarter, a year on year decrease of 11.6%. This exported volume amounted to US $ 59,378,444, an increase of 12.7%.
