Mexico: APEAM will expand avocado area

This year the Association of Avocado Producers and Packers of Mexico (APEAM) plans to expand the area cultivated with this fruit, stated the president of the organization, Antonio Villasenor Zurita.

According to estimates there are 110,000 certified hectares devoted to avocado production and 40,000 hectares working irregularly, as they have not gone through certification processes.

He also reported that there would be a rise in the price of avocado in the coming months because production was already decreasing.
