Dairy Farm owned Giant Cambodia launches in Phnom Penh
Giant Cambodia has opened its first store in the kingdom, in Phnom Penh’s Grand City Mall. It is part of a major expansion into Cambodia by the Malaysian wholly owned subsidiary of pan-Asian retailer Dairy Farm International, which also has a 70 per cent stake in Lucky Private, the owner of Lucky Supermarkets. Singapore: FairPrice supermarkets slash food waste by 40%
Supermarket chain NTUC FairPrice generated a total of 1,300 tonnes of food waste last year, a 41 per cent drop from 2,200 tonnes in 2014. Food categories such as tropical fruits, exotic fruits, vegetables and fresh fish or seafood registered the highest wastage. A total of 210,000kg of fruits and vegetables were saved through the Great Taste Less Waste selection, where fruits with slight blemishes and cut vegetables were repackaged and sold at marked-down prices to reduce waste. Lotte Mart to open 60 outlets in Vietnam by 2020: executive
Lotte Mart seems poised to meet a goal of 60 stores in Vietnam by 2020, with the grand opening of the 12th outlet slated for next week, the Vietnamese division of the South Korean retail giant said on Thursday.

Caprabo aims to go from 42 franchises to 100 by 2018
Grocery retailer Caprabo plans to expand its network of franchise outlets in Spain from 42 to 100 by 2018. US: Weis plans record-level cap-ex
Weis Markets, Sunbury, Pa., plans to boost capital spending by 33% this year to a record $140 million, Jonathan H. Weis, chairman and CEO, told shareholders Thursday. Lotte withdraws from acquisition race for Big C Vietnam
According to Reuters, Lotte is no longer interested in the acquisition of Big C Vietnam. Reportedly the deal may value about $1 billion. The spokesman for Lotte Group refused to comment on the information. Meanwhile, there is no information from the Casino Group - which owns Big C Vietnam.
