China: Onion prices continue to drop

Recently, onion prices declined due to its constant supply increase. It is estimated that its price will continue to drop in the future.

Currently, the price of Yunnan Jianshui red onion has dropped from 6 Yuan/kilo to 3.6-4 Yuan/kilo, while the price of Yuanmou yellow onion also dropped from 4 Yuan/kilo to 3 Yuan/kilo. All these price declines occurred only within half a month. In the month of April, Yunnan Yuxi and Sichuan Xichang onions' supply increased more than twice that of March. Along with the supply increase, its price will continue to drop.

As the price of other vegetables such as spring onions and garlic remain at a high level, the price decrease of onion has stimulated more consumer purchases than before. Next to that, consumers believe that onions have many benefits for the body, and they can be used to treat indigestion, loss of appetite etc.
