A brand for Senegalese mangoes?

Professional’s in the Senegalese mango sector would like to create a Senegalese mango brand. ASEPEX (The Senegalese agency promoting exports) organised a workshop on the 13th April on promoting the Senegalese mango label.

Creating a brand would give Senegalese mangoes more visibility and attract consumers to the product. They would be able to target certain markets and have more presence on the markets thanks to their marketing strategies. The label would be both a sign of confidence in the product, and a marketing strategy. According to Sebastien Lonnits McColl, Head of Senegalses mango commercialisation in the Centre of International Commerce, “With a strong branding of Senegalese mangoes, we can hope for a 15 to 20% increase in profitability. This cannot be done in the short term, but in the medium and long term, as we need to rally together all professionals in the private and institutional sectors.”

Dr Malick Diop, Director General of ASEPEX explains that work is underway to help producers stock their products and that they are working on helping improve production which currently reaches about 125,000 tons.
