Uruguay: Farmer's group export 200,000 kilos of onions to Brazil

A group of farmers in Canelones -Uruguay- is establishing an onion export business to Brazil, where they have already traded more than 200,000 kilos of onions at prices that are higher or equal to the prices in the domestic market.

Antonio Gonzalez, the secretary of the Association of Agricultural Producers from Canelones (APAC) stated that the commercial relationship began 10 weeks ago and that it involved a dozen farmers that contributed their products to export fresh onions.

APAC participated with a stand in the 5th Expo Melilla where, among other products, they displayed the 20 kilo bags of onions as they export them.

These bags have a label that describes the product, its origin, and other valuable information for sellers and consumers of onion in the neighboring country.
