One of the latest SRS-Frigadon chiller installations has been carried out in Crest, France for Pépinières Veauvy. The company is expanding in the supply of young trees comprising of primarily stone fruits which led to investment in three new cold stores. The cold stores have been designed to provide optimum temperature and humidity conditions with the natural refrigerant Frigadon chiller providing the cooling. SRS- Frigadon worked closely with the end user and installation contractor Polyfroid Climatisation in bringing this project together. This was the second such installation in recent months for SRS-Frigadon, having installed a similar chiller system at FP Matthews of Tenbury Wells, UK.

SRS Frigadon and its sister manufacturing partner Frigadon of Halmstad Sweden also recently installed a 14,000m³ quadruple chamber carrot cold store installation now recognized as being the first of its kind in Scandinavia. With their systems having an environmental profile of zero GWP (Global Warming Potential) coupled to their low viscosity fluid which enables the chiller to operate at much lower pumping energy costs compared to propylene glycol and other heat transfer fluids. One advantage with this SRS (Secondary Refrigerant System) method of cooling is that it enables a low and stable air flow velocity and in so doing enables carrots to be stored 4 to 6 months at 0° to 1°C at a high % RH relative humidity.
With many countries now changing the laws on which refrigerants can be used, not only is SRS Frigadon's system future-proof but the company has almost 20 year's experience producing these chillers."
