“Times are changing and innovations are necessary”

Maxime BVBA the wholesaler situated in the fresh food market in Essen changed their ordering system. “From now on all the orders are digitalized. So we don’t use paper to take an order but we directly use the computer and our barcode system," explains manager Mustafa Karahan.

For about a month now, the wholesaler has switched to a computer and barcodes. “We are the first Turkish wholesaler in the region who changed to the new system,” states Karahan, “The changes made on the sales floor have increased the speed and the efficiency of our work. And fewer mistakes are made in the ordering process.”

“More effective staff management”
In the long term the manager will save on staff costs because of the conversion to the digital order system. “Our staff had to deal with the change from the beginning,” tells the wholesaler, “But they are liking it now. The tasks of the sales person is reduced and optimized. This means that we can use our staff more effectively."

New opening times 
In addition to the changes of the order system the fruit and vegetable wholesaler changed its opening time at the fresh food market in Essen. “We are now open from 03:00 to 15:00,” says Karahan, “This change was at the request of our customers. Some customers first open their stores and check their inventory and then go to the market. After the change our business is doing better.”

“Adjust our service to the customers”
The wholesale trade has to adjust their service to the customers,” explains the experienced wholesaler of his recipe for success, “The times are changing and we have to adjust – innovations are necessary.” So the company in Essen has had its own Facebook page for more than a year. “We use it to regularly post special offers and news about our company,” says Karahan. The wholesaler plans to increase its digital direction. “We are thinking about an app. We will have more news about that in the future,” finishes Karahan winking.
