Documentary showcases fair trade movement

March is Equal Exchange Banana Month. Equal Exchange dedicates this month to raising awareness about their fair trade banana supply chain and how this chain transforms communities on both ends of the world.

This March is even more special as it marks Equal Exchange’s 10th year in the banana trade and 30th year as an organization. To celebrate, Equal Exchange is promoting a new web documentary called Beyond the Seal. It is a creative, intriguing piece that boldly portrays the story of a group of small farmers – and the activists and visionaries behind them – striving to change the banana industry as we know it.

Equal Exchange had the great fortune to meet innovative filmmakers Leah Varjacques and Katherine Nagasawa a few years ago while they were filming the web documentary. The documentary is an independent project, but now that it is complete, the filmmakers are teaming up with Equal Exchange to get the word out about the banana industry and the difference Fair Trade bananas make. To watch Beyond the Seal now, visit: beyondtheseal.com.
