Worldwide: Unitec opens new branch in Turkey

"I eat a lot of blueberries and 10-30% of a punnet must always be thrown away - this does nothing to retain customers. In Chile, a company using our technology manages to ship their produce long distances and sell it at prices that are 20% higher than those of other suppliers," explains Unitec president Angelo Benedetti during the press conference at Fruit Logistica 2016.

The press conference.

Unitec was established in 1924 and is now working in over 50 countries with over 35 types of fruit and vegetables. Thanks to branches in Chile, France, Spain, US (California and Washington), South Africa and Argentina, it is close to its clients to better meet their needs. In 2016, it will open a new branch in Turkey.

"We have been focusing on systems for the sorting and classification of fruit to meet client customisation demands." These innovative solutions are dedicated to single fruits - Apple Vision, Cherry Vision, Apricot Vision, Blueberry Vision, Plum Vision, Kiwi Vision, to name a few.

"We are always working with our clients - all our solutions were developed with them to meet the requirements and parameters of their specific sector. Thanks to our systems, packing stations have the possibility to sell produce that would otherwise be sent to the processing industry."

"We manufacture innovative systems that enable operators to increase the quality and efficiency of their processes, thus saving money and resources and creating benefits for the whole chain."

Angelo Benedetti, president of UNITEC.

"An excellent classification of fruit is essential especially for companies that work on foreign markets, as various parameters like ripening stage, inner quality, Brix level, dry matter content, acidity, colour and shape must be taken into consideration. Our products enable packing stations to satisfy consumer expectations and preferences, thus making it possible to retain customers and increase demand."

Satisfied Unitec clients. 2015 was a positive year for the company and 2016 is also looking good.

Vision Unitec Technology systems guarantee excellent sorting in order to select only the fruit that can bear long transfers and be successful also on the more demanding far-away markets like Asia.

At Fruit Logistica, UNITEC also presented UNICAL_200 cherry©, an electronic grader for the processing of small delicate products like cherries and cherry tomatoes. The grader is equipped with CHERRY_VISION©, which assesses the external and internal quality of cherries. It is an extremely innovative and versatile system that can be customised depending on client needs.
