Angus Soft Fruits opens International Sales Office in Holland

Angus Soft Fruit opened an International Sales Office in Tholen, The Netherlands on 1st October 2015. “By locating ourselves in the Netherlands we want to extend our sales to continental Europe, specialising in the buying and selling of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries” explains Edward van den Eijnden. The Scottish company has been supplying soft fruit to British retailers since 1994 and works with growers from Holland, Spain, Morocco, Egypt and North and South America. ASF also has its own breeding program which has led to the success of the AVA, AVA ROSA and Islay strawberries. The company is working hard in Spain to develop new exclusive varieties, which they will bring to the market.

Edward certainly has his background going for him. He has been in the fruit and vegetable sector since the 80’s and is using this experience to set up his network from the Dutch office. “I was a broker from 1989 to 2003. I was mainly specialized in Dutch strawberries and asparagus as well support for contact growers. Then I worked as a purchasing agent in fruit and vegetables for a renowned trading company."

Given the competition Edward realizes that it will not be easy. Angus International B.V. targets a broad customer base of all players within the fruit and vegetable sector. This includes exporters who make deals on behalf of us in Europe but also domestic parties make deals when there is room in the market. Van den Eijnden will meet this challenge with great enthusiasm.
