Heemskerk develops meal in bag

Eating fresh and healthy is becoming increasingly important. Even for small households where there isn't always time and inspiration to prepare a fresh meal. For this reason, Heemskerk has developed fresh & easy, a concept that plays into this. It concerns 4 complete meals with vegetables, meat, sauce and pasta or potatoes, which is on the table in 10 minutes.

The concept was developed under the name Easy chef and consists of a Chinese, Italian, Mexican and Dutch variant. The products contain all the ingredients for a full meal and of course includes 2 ounces of fresh vegetables. In development the guidelines for a healthy meal were used and no artificial flavouring was used. The taste and an attractive packaging in which the product is visible were important points of attention in development. This created four delicious complete meals. The meals are presented in a block bag.

Heemskerk looks at food developments but also demographic developments. The growing group of one person household and ageing are themes that the Rijnburg company uses in product development.

Although the company is originally focused on cutting, washing and packaging vegetables, it now increasingly focuses on supplying convenience products and concepts to retail companies and fastfood service. Meal salads have been produced in Rijnsburg since 2007 and the company quintupled its high care space where meals and mini salads are made this year. As of this year, cut fruit is also in the product portfolio.
