Fresh Connection/Fresh Warehousing expand by adding an export department

Logistics service Fresh Connection/Fresh Warehousing looks back on a good year. The company has grown, and they have also recently added a new logistics service for the export of food, including fresh produce, "We have set up an export department which allows us to offer our customers extra services. We also provide logistics services for overseas export," says Wouter de Koning, general director of Fresh Connection/Fresh Warehousing.

Export

He indicates that due to seasonal import there were slow times throughout the year that they were looking to fill, "We had demand from all sides and we wanted to move our logistics services forward. An export department seemed like the perfect addition to our operations. We handle the entire process, including documents. We are still in the early stages. The first shipments have already left, including potatoes and onions to Africa, the Middle East and Canada. We can now offer existing customers and new customers a wider range of import and export services. I expect the operations to gradually expand to serve all of Europe, with the ports in Antwerp and Rotterdam acting as the in and out for all operations. We are optimistic and expect further growth in 2016 based on the general economic outlook and the optimism in the sector.

"Fresh Connection mainly deals with forwarding, but Fresh Warehousing provides a complete logistics service, including quality control, storage and trans-shipment. Fresh Connection is located in Stabroek, Belgium close to the port for shipping. Fresh Warehousing is located in Meer Hazeldonk on the border right between Antwerp and Rotterdam. The 5,000 square meter refrigerated warehouse in Meer Hazeldonk became our property earlier this year and we are now working on expanding the loading docks, constructing a parking lot for trucks, placing additional pallet racks and renovating the offices. Once this work is completed in February 2016, and the status of the warehouse has been changed to a type E Customs Warehouse, we can store and export more goods in an efficient manner."
