Mexico: Veracruz exports its pineapples to the US and Africa

Thanks to the training and business meetings provided by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic and Port Development in Veracruz (Sedecop), Veracruz has achieved exporting its pineapples to the United States and Africa.

The state government stated that, thanks to the consultancy regarding the marketing conditions in countries such as Canada, China, United States, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates, it was possible that the latter be in charge of distributing said fruit in North Africa.

Additionally, pineapple producers from the municipality of Isla were able to trade three weekly shipments at the start of the production season, which meant they shipped 144 tons to southern California.

Sedecop has served as liaison to formalize agreements and focus on specific issues regarding the internationalization of small and medium enterprises from Veracruz, visiting producers of coffee, chayote, lime, mango and pineapple, among others.

Similarly, in order to strengthen the presence of Veracruz products in international markets, they have held training courses regarding the export process, tariff classification of goods, and food certification.
