Bio Freshi and RAN Fresh Produce combining activities

Bio Freshi and RAN Fresh Produce are combining their activities. Starting December 1, 2015, the existing cooperation between the two fresh produce companies has been further intensified to market the organic products from their growers in Europe together. RAN Fresh Produce is a partnership between Israeli growers, while Bio Freshi mostly focuses on growers of (Dutch) open-field products and overseas products.

The day-to-day management of the new company, Bio Freshi Produce, headquartered in Breda, is in the hands of Gerrit-Jan Roza. "The good thing about this cooperation is that both our companies work according to the same principles: we start from our growers and their products. We market those in Europe, both for retail and the specialized channels. In that sense we're not a trading company, but we keep the chain short and transparent."

Onn Chen, director of RAN Fresh Produce, adds: "This way, we as growers also get to know our clients. So we know exactly what products they're looking for. A win-win situation."

Bio Freshi Produce now has its own packaging and cooling facility at its disposal, so by combining the activities, they can take the next step in the chain. Now the new company can be counted among one of the bigger service providers. "It's not just the short chain that's important. In addition, we also try to have the product packaged on location as much as possible, or in the country of origin. That makes it possible to control costs well, and to get a good price for both our growers and for the end consumer," Gerrit-Jan concludes
