For attractive stand and Migo

Two awards for Veiling Haspengouw at Fructura

At Fructura, the fruit event held every three years, Veiling Haspengouw won two awards. "We can look back on a very successful trade show," says Bart Wijgaerts. "Second prize for the prettiest stand, and third prize for our innovative Migo pear." Veiling Haspengouw, one of the main sponsors, had a strong presence with their own stand on the central square in the Ethias Arena.

Migo in the spotlight
Bart: "In addition to these beautiful awards, we got to welcome many growers and visitors to our stand, Sunday afternoon was particularly good. Every visitor was asked to give their top three for the prettiest stand, and for the most innovative stand. For the best-looking stand, we received second prize, and for the Migo third prize. This put the Migo in the spotlight as the new pear, which no company should do without, both economically and in terms of cultivation. The orders for the trees, apart from the Netherlands, got off to a slow start. At the moment, things are suddenly moving very fast, which means we will achieve our proposed goals."

The 'Sand Magician'

Migo
Migo was revealed in a spectacular manner to the public, by Gert Van der Vijver, also called 'Sand Magician'. People responded enthusiastically to his special act. The sand wizard created pretty pictures on his light box, which were projected on a large screen. He ended with the message: Belgium has a new pear, Migo. Migo is positioned as 'the Friendly Pear' you can eat anywhere at any moment. The pear was 'born' to France in 2005. It's a cross between Conference and Doyenné d'Hiver. This year, production was still low, because the trees are still young. "We expect to be able to plant 100 hectares of Cepuna the next two years in Belgium, through Veiling Haspengouw. Reactions from growers are very good, and orders are coming in fast. We are working hard to deal with all those interested."

Positive
At Fructura, Migo was extensively tested at the stand, and the reactions were very positive here as well. Not that we doubted that, because previous tests had already shown this clearly. The growers are also enthusiastic about the clear and fun positioning with which Migo is presented to the outside world. On top of that, the success is partly thanks to the increased confidence our growers have in the pear in general."

Positive energy
Bart concludes: "All employees of Veiling Haspengouw who participated in Fructura also went away with the same feeling; one of positive energy surrounding Veiling Haspengouw, and how we're back on the map. This strengthens everyone, all our producers and the entire Veiling Haspengouw team, to continue working towards a good future for us all in the same determined manner."
